Google Certification Programs | Ben Hudnall Memorial Trust

Getting Started

New Students

Your first step towards enrolling in a Google Professional Certification Program at OCC is going to be submitting a FREE application! If you are a returning OCC student, please view the Registration Steps tab.

To indicate interest in the Google Certification Programs, create an account + complete the first page of the application by filling in your personal information. Then, under Plans, select the following:

  • Why are you applying to OCC?
    • I want to take a non-credit class or career training.
  • Area of Study:
    • Business/Info Technology
  • Academic Program
    • System Administrator Certificate

Under college plans, make sure to fill in the information that is applicable to you. In order to be identified as a Ben Hudnall Memorial Trust student, you must select it under the Affiliated Partnerships question on the application. Once selected, you will be prompted to provide your NUID to verify program eligibility.

Continue on throughout the application until it is successfully submitted! Within 24 hours of submitting your application, you will receive an email with your login information to OCC’s Student Portal, Ocean Connect. Once you receive your login information, move on to the How to Login to Ocean Connect tab!

How to Login to Ocean Connect

Ocean Connect is the Ocean County College student portal. You will use Ocean Connect to access your current courses, register for upcoming terms, and access your student account. You can login at this link: Ocean Connect

Username

  • Within 24 hours of submitting your application, you will receive an email with your Ocean Connect username.
  • Typically, it is firstname_lastname@students.ocean.edu

Password

  • Your initial password is your OCC student ID number. OCC student ID numbers always start with 0 and are seven digits long.
  • To find your OCC ID Number, you can either use this link to search for your ID number by your Social Security Number: What’s My OCC ID? or find it on the My Account page of OCC’s Online Application.

Once you login, you will be prompted to create your own password. After you do that and are able to access the Ocean Connect home page, move on to the Registration Steps tab!

Registration Steps

The complete list of Google Certification Programs that are offered at Ocean County College through the Ben Hudnall Memorial Trust are listed below. To register for one of these programs, find the program you are interested in from the catalog below and click the Register button. Upon clicking register, you will be prompted to login to Ocean Connect. Please do so using the credentials username provided to you and the password you created.

Once logged in, follow these steps:

  • Verify that the title of the program listed matches the one you selected
  • Select the View Available Sections drop down
  • Once you see the Ben Hudnall section, select Add Section to Schedule
  • On the top left of the page, click on Academics and select Student Planning from the drop down.
  • In Student Planning drop down, select Go to Plan and Schedule
  • Using the right arrows, scroll to the term in which you are enrolling in the program. It will include WPE in the title.
  • When you see the program listed, click on the Register Now button.

You will know that the registration has been processed when you see Registered, but not started posted under the course title.

    • The Ben Hudnall Memorial Trust has a team of Career and Academic Coaches available to assist in aligning your academic plans with your goals, provide academic coaching services, and support in understanding your BHMT benefits and their policies. Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, these programs are asynchronous and self-paced. You will be granted access to the program for a set amount of time determined by program. It is your responsibility to complete all courses and earn the certification by the program’s end date. To view the end date, see the program in Ocean Connect
  • Failure to complete the program by the end date will result in a temporary suspension of BHMT funding, so staying on track is essential. If you have concerns about the coursework, please communicate those with Calleigh Kearns, your OCC Advisor.
  • No, these programs do not follow the same academic calendar or add/drop policies as for-credit courses. If you decide to drop a program, you must do so before the start date to avoid having a balance sent to BHMT.
  • Each program consists of multiple courses, and you will receive a certificate upon completing each course. However, you are not considered to have completed the program until all courses within it are successfully completed. You will receive a Google Professional Certification upon completion of the program.

  • Each course within a program requires a significant time investment. We provide estimated time requirements for each course to help you plan your schedule effectively.

This course is designed for students who have an interest in a career in the field of Information Technology.  It is a hands-on, online learning program designed to prepare you for entry-level jobs in IT support upon completion of the certificate training. The course covers the fundamentals of IT support, including troubleshooting, customer service, networking, operating systems, system administration, and security.
