Kathy Basilotto, Program Chair and Assistant Professor in the Interpreter Training Program is one of ten children. Six of her siblings were born profoundly deaf, and she is a native signer. Her experience growing up in this unique family was the impetus for her to earn her national certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Kathy has interpreted for over 38 years and has worked in various venues such as theatre arts, concerts, video relay interpreting, and more. Kathy developed and implemented the Interpreter Training Program in 2002. Since then, alumni from the program interpreted for President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and Governor Chris Christie – to name a few.
