Health First New Jersey Training Programs and Scholarship Opportunities at Ocean County College
Ocean County College received a four-year Strengthening Community Colleges Training Grant (SCC5), from the US Department of Labor (USDOL) to build capacity to meet the skill development needs of healthcare employers and support students in obtaining good jobs in the healthcare industry.
The purpose of the SCC5 Health First New Jersey grant is to increase the number of highly skilled healthcare workers in the four-county region (Ocean, Atlantic, Cape May and Middlesex) by providing guided career pathways aligned to labor market data and industry intelligence.
Grant funding will provide tuition assistance to eligible students and will enable Ocean County College to offer affordable, high-quality workforce training to meet employers’ and workers’ skill development needs in the Healthcare and Healthcare Information Technology Industry Sectors.

ELIGIBILITY:
New entrants to the workforce
- Long-term unemployed individuals
- Justice-impacted individuals
- High school graduates/college graduates
- Youth who have dropped out of school and are seeking their first full-time job
Dislocated workers
- Terminated or laid off
- Individuals who have received a notice of termination or lay-off from employment
Incumbent workers
- Low-wage and medium-wage workers who need to upgrade their skills to advance in their careers or attain employment in occupations that qualify as good jobs
- Workers who are currently employed working part-time and need training to secure full-time employment
Participants must be authorized to work in the United States

You do not need an appointment to visit us. You can walk in to speak to someone Monday – Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. For open enrollment information, including Healthcare, and Technology courses, visit us in the Administration Building (Building #01), Workforce Professional Education Suite 129 on the Ocean County College Campus. The SCC5 Health First New Jersey Healthcare Career Coordinator will work one-on-one with participants to provide career navigation and job readiness assistance to prepare for in-demand healthcare careers and connect them with workforce resources that support successful entry or advancement in the field.
