Discover, Learn, Thrive: Global Education Experiences with OCC

Ocean County College’s global education experiences, spanning both national and international destinations, offer students and community members invaluable opportunities for experiential learning.  These travel seminars, led by our dedicated faculty members, aim to foster cross cultural understanding and equip attendees with a global perspective.  Scholarships may be available through the Ocean County College Foundation (see information below).

Why participate in a Global Education Experience?

Travel to Switzerland with OCC!

Join Professor Bips and Professor Stout in Switzerland during summer 2024!

Dates: June 27, 2024 – July 5, 2024

With stops in Zürich, Bern, Lausanne, Montreux, and Geneva, you’ll have the opportunity to explore all that Switzerland has to offer! With all accommodation, transportation, and meals (breakfasts & dinners only) included during this 9-day trip, you’ll be able to immerse yourself fully in the country’s vibrant culture, history, and tourism industry.

Package Includes:

  • Accommodation, transportation, and all breakfasts & dinners
  • Night Watchman Ghost Tour of Zurich
  • Entry into the Lindt Museum of Chocolate, Bern Museum of Fine Arts, and Collection de L’Art Brut

Ireland Travel Seminar -Global Sciences and Humanities

Dates: August 8, 2024- August 17, 2024

Travel with us from OCC to…

Dublin: We will stay in Dublin City, Northside of River Liffey, with visits to Dublin Castle, Kilmainham Gaol, Trinity College (Book of Kells), St. Patrick’s Cathedral, James Joyce Cultural Center. MoLI, Seamus Heaney Exhibition  (National Library of Ireland), Chester Beatty Museum of Ireland, Dublinia.

Sligo: On our way to the west coast and Sligo, we hope to visit the 5000-year -old passage tombs of New Grange and Knowth, Once in Sligo, we will explore Drumcliff Church, Thoor Ballylee Yeats Tower, Sligo Abbey and Yeats Society Building.

Galway:  As we travel to Galway, we will visit Roundstone Music and Craft shop in the quaint village of Roundstone, then to the Cliffs of Moher.

Leopardstown: Our next stop is Leopardstown, along the way we will stop for a spectacular Sheepdog demonstration in the village of Ballymore Eustace.

Price: $2,725.50, in-county students which includes a half-price Foundation Scholarship.  $5,505.00 for out-of-county students (not eligible for Foundation Scholarship).

Package Includes:

  • Round-trip airfare
  • All transports within Ireland
  • 3-4 Star Hotels (double occupancy)
  • All Breakfasts are included as well as the first and last dinner (as noted on itinerary)
  • Scheduled tours and admissions as noted on the itinerary
  • Price included tuition for one course

Attention theatre enthusiasts!

Immerse yourself in the world of theatre and see (10) plays at the Royal National, the West End and the Fringe! Attend talk-back sessions with actors, directors, playwrights and/or designers and tour the Royal National Theatre. There will be plenty of free time for sightseeing, shopping, museum visits and more.

Scholarships For Global Education Experiences

OCC Foundation Scholarships:  The OCC Foundation frequently offers partial scholarships for full-time OCC students to participate in OCC-sponsored travel seminars and study abroad experiences.  Students should contact the professor leading the travel seminar for information on OCC Foundation scholarships available for that particular global education experience.

Outside Programs & Scholarships: The US State Department lists study abroad programs and scholarship opportunities on their website.
