Business Administration A.S. – Data Analytics Option

Academic Pathways

After completing a Bachelor’s degree, students can continue on this pathway with their education. Students can consider a master’s degree in Business Analytics or Data Science. A PhD in Business Data Science is also offered by NJIT Martin Tuckman School of Management.

Possible transfer opportunities in this field include: BS in Business Analytics and Data Science (NJCU), B.S. in Data Science or BS Business (NJIT), BS Data Science and Analytics (Thomas Edison), BS Business Administration, concentration Business Analytics (Montclair), BS in Data Science or minor in Business Analytics (Ramapo), BS in Business Analytics and Information Technology (Rutgers), BSBA Business Analytics (Rider), and BS Business Studies concentration Business Analytics (Stockton).

Students will have opportunities to gain certificates in Tableau and/or Microsoft Azure at OCC. Numerous industry-recognized credentials can be independently sought by students after completing their formal education. Examples include:

Faculty Biography

Katherine Toy 2023-Business Studies-College LecturerKatherine Toy, Lecturer II in Business Studies, is available to contact for further information. In addition to teaching Economics here at OCC, she manages the Business Lab. This lab includes Bloomberg terminals which provide a wealth not only of financial data but also an advanced query language for data retrieval and analysis. She has also participated in joint initiatives between OCC and leading industry and educational partners.

In the Summer of 2018 she travelled to NJIT to participate in the IBM Predictive Analytics Modeler program, and more recently participated in the Intel “Train-the-Trainer” program remotely in early 2021. She is eager to advise students seeking an education and career in Business and Data Analytics, and encourages students to contact her regarding grant-funded opportunities to receive industry recognized credentials in finance, data visualization, and machine learning.

Katherine received her BA and PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, with specialty fields in Finance and Monetary Policy. Early in her career she held various positions with government and industry employers such as Dun & Bradstreet Technical Economic Services, where she served as an Applications Development Analyst. Most of her career however has been spent in education, as she has taught college-level Economics for several decades. You can contact Dr. Toy at or extension 2424.
